Proposed date and location of 2015 annual meeting of the Green Party of ColoradoDate:  May 16, 2015Time: 9:30 am to 3:00 pmLocation:  Mercury Café, DenverThe Mercury Café is currently available on May 16. It is free, has food for sale, and is well-known by Greens. The room needs to be reserved very soon. [The Mercury Café is already booked on May 9.]May 16 would be a good date because 1) it is before summer activities/vacations and 2) the strategic planning group will have finished recommendations for the meeting.[BILL BARTLETT: I'm not sure of the next step in the proposal process. Presumably the proposal goes to 'agreement seeking'. I can't post a new topic to the Proposal Agreement Seeking section of the forum.  Is this something you take care of?]

Hi Harry!  I appreciate your enthusiasm! Once we have discussed it, a proposal can be drafted. I see two problems here:  the venue and the date.  We need more time, and we do not want to use the Mercury Cafe. The proper approach is to get a committee together that presents a few dates, and perhaps venue options, to the council. I'm assuming you'd like to be part of the committee?  The state leaders are aiming for the annual meeting later in the year. You may want to reach out to us to discuss some of this stuff before doing too much planning on your own.

Bill,    My responses to your post of April 9:"We do not want to use the Mercury Cafe."    Who is we?  I personally like the Mercury Café, but am open to meeting anywhere."The state leaders are aiming for the annual meeting later in the year."    On Feb 9 in private council discussion on planning for 2015-2016 you wrote, "Since this is an off-year, we don't have to hold our meeting in March;  April or May would be better (May has been suggested as the best option)." What is the hold up?"The proper approach is to get a committee together that presents a few dates, and perhaps venue options, to the council."    When will you have the committee together?  Either Fred Smith or Harry Hempy would serve on the committee from Greater Boulder."You may want to reach out to us to discuss some of this stuff before doing too much planning on your own." "Once we have discussed it, a proposal can be drafted."    Agreed. I thought drafting a proposal for discussion the GPCO Forum was the preferred way to 'reach out'. How SHOULD people reach out to GPCO?

Sorry if any responses seem short.  I have a lot of typing to do tonight and very limited time to clarify things that aren't time-sensitive.  The annual meeting is not time-sensitive right now compared to other things that are happening with the Greens over the next week.  (That's a separate post.)

Who is we?  I personally like the Mercury Café, but am open to meeting anywhere.

State leadership, and general feedback from the last experience at the Cafe when we were overbooked.  If we could find a more suitable venue, it would be ideal. Frankly I would like to see us on the Western Slope this time to visit the Southwest Greens.

On Feb 9 in private council discussion on planning for 2015-2016 you wrote, "Since this is an off-year, we don't have to hold our meeting in March;  April or May would be better (May has been suggested as the best option)." What is the hold up?

I could go into detail on the "hold up" but lets just say we have limited staff and time.  I wish you were more involved at the state level, Harry, and we probably wouldn't have this weird friction.  I'm sorry for my part in any distance between us. We (the Executive Committee) have plans in the works to engage on a state level before the annual meeting.  If you'd like to hear about them before their announced, give me a call.

This is the proper way (or better in the Private Council Discussion)... just thought it was weird that you had picked a venue and a date, when you hadn't conferred with anyone about what plans might already BE in the works (such as I have a feeling we should try the SW this time around).  I'll put out the call for a Meeting Committee and get the ball rolling.
