Laura C.
MemberI'd like to get feedback from the Council on interest in tabling at two events in June, in Denver – People's Fair and PrideFest. It is visibility and we could possibly do voter registration (following the rules of course). Here is the info I have so far:People's Fair is $150 for the booth (June 6-7), attendance ~200,000.PrideFest is $265 (June 20-21), attendance ~365,000. PrideFest also requires liability insurance - I think they can provide for additional $65. Gary said last year PrideFest was packed - better attendance of the two. Applications are due by 4/1. I will help coordinate if we can get funding from state and possibly chapters - deadline is approaching. We will also need volunteers for tabling. Please let me know your thoughts.Thank you!

MemberJust adding in my comments from the email thread:Can we get an idea of what we hope to accomplish there? What is our purpose and message for being at either event? Do we have enough volunteers to cover it?What I would want to see is that we're coming away with something tangible...voter registrations, donations, email list sign ups...something. Otherwise it could be a big waste of money, which we might instead put toward outreach to current Greens to build the chapter and draw from a larger volunteer pool later.Honestly, if it's just going to be Laura and one other person at the table all day, I'd rather not.Nor would I want just any volunteer. They'd have to be people willing to stay on message and not go off on tangents to promote side issues not approved by us or talking about how the Greens can never win. Thanks for listening.

MemberSo wait…We have $2600 but haven't gotten NationBuilder off the ground yet?Think about it: we want to table at some wide open net events, and even if we take down some info for potential volunteers and new members, we'd have no where to warehouse that information.Comrades, please. Can't we put our resources toward building an infrastructure? We can't keep doing things off the cuff like this. It's inefficient and ineffective.

MemberIn the past when I was running for office the presence of the Green Party on the same turf as the Corporate pa ties and the Libertarian Party was an important “educational tool.” Without candidates it might also be useful in demonstrating our issue advocacy to some. I don't think we ever managed to get support $$$ from the event but it would be useful if we could do something in the booth that would at least pay for its presence. Sell hats, T-shirts??? Run a roulette wheel?

MemberNow we're onto something. Do we have a candidate running against Thurston Bennet III yet, though?

MemberI understand if some members don't want to go with the tables, but I like having them. How about instead of having a roulette table we have a trivia game with questions on a card that ask political, Green, and current event questions. Maybe they have to pay to play and can win a prize. We could have 10 catecories that match up with our values.

MemberI think that's also a good idea. I'm just opposed to going to table with no real objective.I also think that we need to focus on our infrastructure, otherwise this will be a waste of money and time.

MemberI’ve tabled at the People’s Fair and depending on location we generally have some interested people stop by. It would help to have more materials to show and hand out. I think that is where we could make improvement over recent previous years. Both does sound expensive. Can we put the state funds into perspective with some kind of annual budget?Michael HaugheyAJ Greens

MemberI agree with Michael on a few more handouts. Laura and I talked about having a trivia game going. I really like that idea. Maybe we could have some kind of easy organic snack for sale. Like chips and chili or hot dogs. Then people would have a bit of reason to stop and talk and we could make a couple dollars. Also it would be nice if we had the bumper stickers and pins with magnets. The magnets were the only kind of bumper stickers the Our Broomfield, anti-frackers handed out. I have a small Green Party button and when I out it on my blouses it makes a hole. I know peobably most of you will think this is an added unnecessary expense and it might be. Inhope it is alright if I get to keep commenting on the forum even though I'm no longer an officer or CoChair.
