Andrea Mérida Cuéllar
MemberAttending: Josh Colky, Max Monclair, Véronique Bellamy, Andrea MeridaThe group received a briefing on the current situation with our websites:
- We work through 3 sites: a wordpress installation, Nationbuilder and the forum.
- The wordpress is hosted on Andrea's personal hosting account, the forum is hosted with Bill Bartlett, and Nationbuilder is a subscription service at $108 per month.
This situation is untenable, as the party does not have access to back ends, control panels or databases. Therefore, to resolve the situation, the committee will look for an affordable shared hosting located in Colorado. The objective as well will be to have enough space to host local party websites as well, to relieve the cost of website hosting as a value-add to the locals, free of charge.Currently several local websites are hosted on Andrea's hosting account: Mesa, Arapahoe, Denver, and Pikes Peak.Véronique suggested using a WordPress multisite configuration; the group agreed. She also discussed putting together a digital strategy, which the group will work on together here. The group discussed the URL redirect hack that happened over the previous weekend. All plugins have been updated, the site has been hardened somewhat, wordpress and theme were all updated. Andrea has initiated a request for Google to clear the URL they have listed. If a site visitor goes to coloradogreenparty.org directly, there is no issue. If they visit by searching Google and clicking through, they get spam pages. The group has settled on a few rules going forward:
- No party assets on personal hosting accounts
- No less than three people with login credentials to all levels of party assets
- Daily backups of content and database will be conducted
- one shared host for as many assets as possible. Note: Nationbuilder will be reviewed.
Followups will be conducted here on the forum.
