These are the notes from the first Meeting of the Chairs, held this last Sunday.  Some of the Council members may not have received invites, since this is a Chairs meeting that I am hosting each week.  There are some council-related issues that I would like to discuss related to some of the subjects that come up in these meetings, however.  It is in this vein, and for historical reference, that I record these notes in our private council discussion area. [hr]Good evening everyone! Here is a summary from this Sunday's Meeting of the Chairs:Attendance: Bill Bartlett, Michael HaugheyCancellations: Tanya Ishikawa, Aaron Ney, Susan HallNotes:"Green Socials"Talked about "Green Socials" - adding or replacing administrative meetings with public, issue-oriented social events.  Basic format being: free snacks for visitors (cost < $15 / event), providing informational materials about the issue, and talking about local issues that are of interest to the local community. Michael voiced concerns about funding and staffing these events.  He also voiced some concern with replacing the public administrative meetings altogether. Upon considering feedback from Michael (and some from Chris Allen) her are some added ideas:- work on just one social event in a different county each month, particularly in the more densely populated counties and provide some state-backed funding to ensure a professional look.  invite greens from surrounding locals to attend- public presentations may require a projector.  some locals have access to projectors through their networks, others do not have this capability and would rely on the venue to supply itVolunteer CoordinationTalked about volunteer coordination.  To better direct resources in 2013, we would like local chapters to put together a list of openings on committees, boards, and upcoming elected offices.  This information will help the State Council in making many volunteer and resource related decisions.Forum EnhancementsFinally, we discussed the forum and some potential improvements to make it more user-friendly, including better notification of active topics.  I have a software update in mind and will be testing it this week.Michael, thank you very much for taking time to attend this meeting!About The Meetings of the ChairsThe focus of these meetings is to build comradery and coordination between chairs.  For my part, I am setting aside one hour per week to speak with as many chairs as will meet together in a phone conference. In these meetings we are planning strategies to:- build party membership- assess local tactics (outreach, meetings, events, etc.)- capitalize on group synergy to foster new ideasA Green Tide is Rising!
