Gary Swing
MemberI will be on the ballot as the Green Party of Colorado's 2012 nominee for US Representative from the First Congressional District. This district includes Denver, Cherry Hills Village, Glendale, Englewood, Sheridan, Columbine, and Ken Caryll. My campaign website is http://www.newmenu.org/swingvoter Jill Stein is the Green Party's candidate for president. Her website is http://www.jillstein.orgI would greatly appreciate any volunteer help help with:1) Writing letters to the editor supporting the Green Party and its candidates. So far, I have emailed letters to the editor of 25 newspapers promoting my campaign and that of Jill Stein. We also have Susan Hall running for US Representative in CD2, Misha Luzov running for US Representative in CD5, Victor Forsythe for State Representative from House District 5 in Denver, and candidates for county commissioner in San Miguel, Gunnison, and El Paso Counties.2) Meeting me at busy street corners to help me hold my campaign banner for passing motorists and pedestrians to see. On Monday, Oct. 1 and Tuesday, Oct. 2, I plan to be at the corner of Evans and University outside the University of Denver from 7-10am to hold my banner for morning rush hour traffic and offer any passing pedestrians fliers for my campaign as well as Jill Stein's.3) Distributing campaign cards for my Congressional campaign and/or Jill Stein's presidential campaign at events, in public places, or door to door in Denver or Arapahoe County neighborhoods.4) Sharing information about Green Party candidates on websites and blogs.5) I would also welcome in-kind donations of printing/photocopying of campaign fliers, primarily Jill Stein's campaign flier from her website, or donations toward printing costs. I currently have several thousand of my own campaign business cards to distribute and 1,100 Jill Stein campaign fliers. I will volunteer to distribute up to 5,000 Stein fliers between now and election day if someone will print or contribute to printing her flers.Writing letters to the editor is very important for generating public awareness about Green Party campaigns in view of the corporate media's unwillingness to inform the public about minor party and independent candidates. I suggest writing substantive letters focusing on the Green Party's consensus public policy positions, such as Jill Stein's campaign platform.Following is a list of email addresses for letters to the editor of newspapers in Colorado's First Congressional District. I plan to post a supplement to this later with email addresses for other newspapers around Colorado. Please send a letter to the editor of the Denver Post (Colorado's biggest newspaper), and also to one or more smaller newspapers. The Denver Post's free publication "Your Hub" printed a letter of mine on September 27, but getting the Denver Post itself to publish anything about Green Party candidacies is unlikely. Smaller newspapers are more likely to print something.Letters to the editor should be signed with your name, address, and phone number for the newspaer to verify. Letters to the Denver Post should be 150 words or less. Letters to other newspapers should be 300 words or less. Students, faculty, or graduates of universities should mention their affiliation along with their contact information. Here are some email addresses for letters to the editor of Denver and Arapahoe County newspapers:Denver Post: openforum@denverpost.comEnglewood Herald: letters@ourcoloradonews.comThe Villager (Cherry Hills Village): editorial@villagerpublishing.comGlendale-Cherry Creek News: newspaper@glendalecherrycreek.comLife On Capitol Hill: Editor@LifeOnCapHill.comGreater Park Hill News: evanderberg@greaterparkhill.orgMile High News: editor@milehighnews.comDenver Voice: editor@denvervoice.comNorth Denver News: editor@northdenvernews.comThe Metropolitan: themetonline@gmail.comRegis University Highlander: lander@regis.eduUCD Advocate: editorinchief@ucdadvocate.comUniversity of Denver Clarion: du.clarion@du.eduUrban Spectrum: editor@urbanspectrum.netThanks and best wishes,Gary SwingGreen Party candidate for US Representative, CD1, Coloradohttp://www.newmenu.org/swingvoter(303) 720-4541theswingvote@yahoo.comI do not own a computer and don't have email on my phone, so calling me is the quickest way to reach me.
