MemberThis is Proposal 001-15: Funding the 2015 People’s Fair. Please read the proposal, and confine any comments to the proposal only. Designate your wishes by using "AGREE", “BLOCK”, or "STAND ASIDE". Any blocks will require a vote of the Council. Per Section 4.3.2 of the GPCO Bylaws, expenditures of up to $200 require a 60% vote of the council. There are currently eight (8) active voting chapters in the Green Party of Colorado. A of 60% quorum requires at least one response from five (5) chapters. Active Chapters: Adams/JeffersonArapahoe CountyDenverDouglasGreater BoulderPikes PeakSan MiguelSouthwest The floor is now open for one week of Agreement Seeking (ending April 3, 2015). Thank you,Bill Bartlett, Interim Council Facilitator[hr]1. Basic InfoDate proposed: March 27, 2015Name of the sponsor(s): Bill BartlettLaura Clark2. Title: Funding the 2015 People’s Fair3. Text of the actual Proposal: Provide $200 to fund operations at a GPCO booth at the People’s Fair in Denver on June 6 & 7, 2015. 4. Background: The Denver Greens have had a presence at the People’s Fair for many years. It is a highly attended, weekend event in Denver. Booths are around $150. This request is for $200 to include fliers or other promotional materials we will need for the event, including fliers and handouts. 5. Justification/Goals: 1. Informing: let's make sure to cover local/state/national issues, have our volunteers focus on those messages and the handouts. 2. Donations/sales: we can have some t-shirts, buttons, and bumper stickers on hand.3. Registrations: we may be able to do registrations, depending on the laws and the regulations at the event. 4. Building morale: there are new volunteers that would enjoy the opportunity to spread the word.6. Pros and Cons: Pros: We maintain (and grow) a presence at one a popular event in Denver, registering new Greens and spreading the word about important issues like TPP, fracking, and the minimum wage. Cons: We get no new Green registrations or donations. Even then, we get the word out that we are here, and that we are taking a stand on our chosen issues. 7. Alternatives to the proposal: Taking no action.8. Supporting statements including references to other sources of readily accessible materials to aid in the members’ decision making process. None.

MemberI oppose. I have offered to create a plan and materials, and my colleague in Adams-Jeffco has not responded. I don't believe in spending money for a “presence” without Nationbuilder up and running and with no real objective. Additionally, unless we have firm commitments to staff the booth, I am not in favor of Laura Clark having to do all the heavy lifting on her own, just because she lives nearby.I am willing to change my vote if a real plan can be made.

MemberHi Andrea! I had a feeling you might object. Also, your position would need to be defined as either "agree", "stand aside", or "block". Blocks are rare, in that they bring the whole discussion to a halt and begin a vote. If you have an objection, you might see how the discussion flows before casting a block. But as I'd like consensus, I'd like to allay your concerns as much as possible. 1. NB (NationBuilder) is just about up already. I'm thinking a soft launch within a week or so, at least utilizing simple aspects of the software (its very robust, could many things we use and were intending on using for communications). 2. Laura and I have been discussing plans for the booth, and the email thread outside of this forum indicated there was ample interest in helping to staff it. I'm certain we could find someone to coordinate it once we have the funding. Remember, we have two months. We have to submit this paperwork by the end of the month (preferably end of weekend). It would be nice to have full consensus on this, though, again, I understand your apprehension. ~~ I Agree with this proposal by the way! 😀

MemberI need an idea of what will be functional for launch. What will we be able to do or not do with Nationbuilder by launch time? What are the plans for it? Who will maintain? What is the process for updating? What will be the rules for chapters to use the state database? We are all incorporated as individual entities, and we may have to follow certain campaign finance rules. Will we be charged something for its use? Thanks.

GuestHello fellow Greens! I am in agreement. I volunteer some time, whatever days/days looking to not spend ALL day, but a good half. Perhaps afternoon on the first day and morning of the second. Am willing to offer chair massage for all proceeds to go the party. ;D

MemberAndrea, we need to discuss the specifics of NB on another thread. You're asking a complex question about something that isn't part of this proposal. Since NB is a very robust software that could replace pretty much everything we do. It must be implemented in stages. I will answer your queries in a new thread. Had I known you wanted to be involved in helping with it, I would have invited you! We need people who will to help integrate it into our workings. I'll start another thread and break down answers to your questions a I have them; they're good questions and addressing them might help the council understand the scope of NB and what it offers. If having NB setup is an deal breaker, we might want to have a discussion by phone about where your barometer is on it. I don't want NB to tie up events as we roll forward. Does that sound fair?

MemberBill, you and I have been talking about NB and CiviCRM on and off since I joined. I am at a loss to hear you misrepresent my interest level in this way.I'll look for the new thread. We all need communication about what's going on with NB anyway.

MemberSorry I didn't mean any misrepresentation, I rewrote that response a couple time and then said screw it good enough! I meant no disrespect!

MemberFred Smith and Harry Hempy are the new Greater Boulder Green Party Ch-Chairs, and I see Harry has agreed on having a presence at the People's Fair. Although I do not believe I am suppose to vote, I would like to say Tom and I would like to come and help in the booth. Maybe it would be good if we volunteer two half days since Tom has a new -used pick up, so we can bring a table and pick up the tent if necessary as well help take them down. We can go be Laura's before attending the Fair and pick up anything she would like to send.Susan & Tom Hall, members of Greater Boulder Green Party
