Colleagues, I spent a nice time with the Pikes Peak Greens on Saturday, and in our discussion of tools and process, we hatched an idea about shared hosting.Right now, I think many of you are paying close to $100 a year or more for hosting.  We are in the process of moving the state party website to a better, accessible hosting account, where we can add emails and do all kinds of admin things on the website without having to go through an intermediary. It just so happens that Bill and I are both experienced web designers, and also, the hosting cost is more expensive than what we can get out there.Bob Kinsey and I discussed a cost-sharing idea for shared web hosting.  Essentially, the state pays for the year's hosting (or two years or whatever), and chapters who also have their websites on the shared hosting would split the cost with the state.  The cost of the domain would have to be borne by the chapter, but we're only talking about less than $15 per year.Say all 8 chapters shared hosting.  That brings the cost down to about $12 per year, as opposed to $100 or so.Additionally, you would benefit from the shared expertise that both Bill and I bring to the table, as well as that of anyone else who would join the website committee, to help administer and monitor websites that some do not currently have the expertise to do.What do you think?
