Colleagues, I also wanted to let you know that an Adams Green has stepped forward to outreach to a hugely important constituency: youth. Damian Gonzales is now serving as the ACGP secretary, and I have asked him to take on the role of Statewide Youth Coordinator as well.Damian serves on an advisory committee to the Adams county commissioners, he helps oversee the Community Services Block Grant funds. Like myself, he fits in college where he can get it in and has worked as a pharmacy tech recently. He as been volunteering/working for campaigns since 2015, most recently as a supporter of Bernie Sanders. He became a Green back in August 2016.Recently, Damian has been fielding the requests for speakers that we get from high school students. Remember that this is an important outreach opportunity because of early registration in Colorado. He was just at DSST in Denver and so successfully represented the Green Party that the teacher sponsor of the event has committed to motivate students toward registering Green. He is about to connect with the progressive student leadership at CU Boulder, but he also has an eye toward the community colleges that have a greater working-class student body as well.Damian is also mobilizing to launch enough people to roll out a Youth Caucus at our state meeting in August, and he already has young people from 9 different counties ready to go.He is a member of the state council, so you will have a chance to interact with him, but he will be touching base with local co-chairs to create a communication flow and hopefully send young people to your local meetings.
