Today I was contacted by two members of GPCO leadership and threatened to resign my position as co-chair. Due to what transpired, I'm hosting an urgent Council teleconference tomorrow evening at 6pm. I will do my best to be on the conference call, as will Tom. I personally find it a negative action for the GPOC to have threats happening in our party both because it is a destructive power to have people not reaching out to encourage other members and because at this time there is so much work to get done, which has also been stated by someone else I greatly respect. Some of the work that members could be focusing on includes tasks for local chapter meetings, attending events for our candidates or creating or finding debates and media positions for them to attend, posting on social media to announce events, canvassing, phone banking, marching in parades, standing with protests or connecting with people or issues, making buttons, for certain officers filling in spread sheets, writing to papers, considering new ideas, learning about what is happening in the world, and other things I have not mentioned like thinking about fun ways to bring members of all ages together and to raise funds. I have known both of our CoChairs in the GPOC to work at some of the above tasks and would take it as a problematic thing if one CoChair refused to appreciate the differences and labor of another. It could and should be a strength for the Green Party to have two CoChairs to support each other.
