MemberAs we are a little over one month away from our convention, here are some other things we need to urgently attend to. If any of this is underway and I missed it, I apologize. If it is not, we have no time to lose.1) We need someone to collect the agenda, people need to submit agenda items, and then we need to organize the agenda items in a good manner.2) The co-chairs normally chair (facilitate) the meeting. My understanding is Art is only available part of the time on March 31 due to prior commitments. Bill B. is new, and it would be very helpful to have a co-facilitator. 3) I have learned from prior experience that we need a credentials committee, to check on voter registrations to verify delegates are green party members. I have done this myself in the past, but as secretary I also need to take minutes as we go, meaning everything stops while folks wait for me. This is an unneeded bottleneck. We also may want a simple procedure to hand out green delegate cards (every green at a meeting gets 1 vote, so it's no longer the case that party locals gets a set number of delegates, but there may well be folks there not in the party, and we need to know who gets to vote on motions) and someone to help count votes. I am not sure we have decided whether we use simple majority rule, or instant runoff voting as we did to elect the co-chairs last time, but however we do it, we need an agreed-upon voting and vote counting procedure.4) We need to research lodging and food options in Carbondale, since we lack a local there. People will need info on inexpensive motels, RV parks and campgrounds. Even better would be if someone wanted to call registered greens in Garfield County and find a couple of "hosts" who would be willing to let people sleep on couches, floors, spare rooms, or would know the lodging and food options. We may need to do potluck and have folks bring stuff to eat and drink 5) We need to put out a Call to Convention, and get it out as widely as possible to greens. We have our state email lists, but these are a small portion of the registered greens in the state. I would hope every local would forward it to their lists, and/or call folks in their and surrounding counties. 6) Media release announcing our convention is going to take place March 31 in Carbondale 7) More info put on our state webpage...once we have more info to put on the webpage. 8) Flesh out the convention committee beyond Jonesy..

MemberNow that I have access to this section of the forum (I know I can be dense, but I didn't think I was THAT dense!) I see that indeed much of this is underway, especially agenda collection. I am glad to see that. Much of the logistical stuff is still to be done, but maybe that is underway too. I apologize for any confusion I may have caused with sending this out to the council list and posting it in the wrong section of the forum.

MemberI'd rather have you post than not!! No confusion, but an added understanding of the hurdles we're looking at when moving everyone into this style of communication. Thanks Eric!
