  • Art, the lion's share of members live in the Front Range.  It's more environmentally sound for us to bring a few folks into the Front Range than in having 100 people ttavel to the Western Slope.  This also would have the potential to drastically cut down on participation because of the distance. If you have other ideas that are easily accessible to the most,  I'm willing to consider them.  Also, if San Miguel needs help getting out her, I'm willing to amend the proposal to assist you all as well.

So…Linda Templin sent me the following note the March for Science organizers sent her:

Due to the nature of the Denver March for Science, we cannot back any political party. However, we are assembling a "Meet Your Representative" table where we would be happy to host Green Party elected officials. This table will encourage representatives to meet with the public and discuss the importance of science and scientific backed policies in politics. There will be representatives from the Democratic party and we are continuing our outreach efforts to get elected Republicans and Libertarians at this table. We have been in contact with other members from the Green Party (Harry Hempy, Scott Lupo, and Veronique Bellamy) and they have offered to facilitate getting Green Party leadership/elected officials at this table.

Even though they invited us, and given the nature of their sensitivity, I don't think we should bend over backward to participate in this.

We will be making a survey of the entire website in the near future, Harry.  No need to flag things for us.

What an impressive summation, Josh.  Thank you, and solidarity!

The voting for this proposal is now ended, and with only one local participating, the proposal fails due to lack of quorum.

No, I will not participate in this time-wasting endeavor of yours any further.Get to work growing your local, Harry.

I'm attaching a sample of this abusive conversational style here.

in reply to: "Stop Contacting Me" #1709

Let's get one thing absolutely straight here.Sally Hempy has a track record of being verbally abusive with people in this party.  Her last interaction with me a couple years ago was equally disrespectful, and I don't have to take it.  I am not the "help."I prefer not to have her contact me, and because she is disrespectful, I have a right to insist on that. There will be no apology.  No one in this party should be expected to submit themselves to bullying, attacks, surveillance or gaslighting.  In this party, we behave in collaborative, peaceful and solutions-oriented ways, and I expect you to help members of your local be mindful of that. Please refocus yourself on the work that GBGP needs you to execute instead of looking for more ammunition against me personally.  We all know you object to my presence in this party.  Please refer to the bylaws if you need a refresher.Thank you.

Let's get back on topic, Judy.

in reply to: To Run a Gubernatorial Candidate or Not? #1696

We've run three candidates for governor in the state party's history.Phil Hufford in 1994:  1.5% of the vote, 16,908 votesRonald Forthofer in 2002:  2.27% of the vote, 32,099 votesHarry Hempy in 2014: 1.34% of the vote, 27,391 votesIf running a candidate were the reason why voter registrations grow, then why don't we have 27,000 registered Greens?People can vote for any candidate without switching parties.

in reply to: Volunteer Political Director #1702

Have you actually read the bylaws or Procedures and Guidelines document?

in reply to: Volunteer Political Director #1700

Judy, please refer to the entire text of my opening post, in particular:

I've been kicking this idea around for a couple years now and almost floated a proposal in 2015.  I contemplated the "position" in this way

That is text from the proposal back then.If you want to override my appointment, then run a proposal.  I do suggest you make a pit stop at your local first, though.Do you have any other reason to object, aside from the fact that it's just me?

gpco.fullydefiant.com is on Bill Bartlett's server.  It's this forum. We will be moving the forum and the other main site to a different hosting site soon. For the moment, make sure your anti-virus protection is up to snuff...it appears you can get in ok.

in reply to: To Run a Gubernatorial Candidate or Not? #1694

I think the correlation for 2016 probably should be Jill Stein herself, as well as the DNC, in the way they sold out Bernie Sanders. There have been two significant bumps in voter registration: post Super Tuesday and during the #Demexit period. We really haven't seen all that much fall-off, either.

A little clarity and perspective:Bob Kinsey got 38,884 votes in 2010 for U.S. Senate. He raised too little to report to the FEC.Arn Menconi got 36,805 votes in 2016 for U.S. Senate.  He reported something like $19k to the FEC.
