thank you, john, for taking the minutes. I was very heartened by our state meeting, and echo your thanks to jonesy who headed up the convention committee, dan sage who's been our angel treasurer all these years, eric who always works hard for usĀ  and all who made this gathering happen so successfully, and finally to bill for running such a great meeting.

in reply to: Proposal for GPOC Council #433

I think we need to have people log in with their real names and not invented addys. otherwise we don't know who is actually speaking. i take it that “cosenator” is Bob Kinsey, correct?the resolution format, which we use in roberts rules process, is not how our P&G specifies we present proposals in our Green agreement-seeking process. until we change the P&G and the Bylaws, this is not the correct format. on undertaking something so important as changing the date of eligibility (which will have to pass muster with the SOS to allow our candidates on the ballot), making a change without following our own rules is unwise, and likely will be challenged.i don't have a problem with considering making this change, but i recommend we do not try to undertake while we're within the time line currently specified by our bylaws.further, in my opinion, we ought to put our energies into preparing for the convention, and getting the agenda refined, and learning how to use this forum so we can begin the restructuring, rather than trying to hurriedly make a major change in our candidate eligibility timeframes.

in reply to: Convention Committee #400

we found out that co-chairs couldn't name committees anymore. the bylaws have been changed and only the Council could name committees. so we went back to the listserve and had a council vote to create the Convention Committee. we now have a separate section of the Forum for the work of the Convention Committee. only members of the committee can comment, but all members should be able to see what is happening there. go to “Convention Committee” under Committees & Working Groups

in reply to: Convention Agenda #423

thanks for adding the review of Council actions, as required by our Bylaws/P&G. i think sending it to the council and asking them to forward to chapter members and to the discussion group is sufficient.

in reply to: GPCO Council Forum #341

i think jonesy suggested we move the Restructuring discussion to the Restructuring Task Force and put it under Committees & Working Group, rather than under General Discussion.also, i see that beneath the comments that go from first to most recent is a Topics Summary that goes from most recent to oldest. i'm wondering if this is the best way to structure this. maybe the topic summary should be first, with most recent to oldest listed and then the place to comment next????having the topic summary first would allow folks to read what others have done, but they could reply to the posts right after that. if some things can't be changed, just let us know, bill. we're all learning here.

in reply to: What We Need to do for the State Meeting/Convention #431

i agree with bill. we appreciate your input, always, eric. you've been a major sparkplug keeping the state party functioning. however, can we move the discussion over to the Convention Agenda thread????

in reply to: Convention Agenda #421

i concur with Bill, good job on the letter. can we also send along a draft agenda, as we have it so far, noting that it's only a draft? also, as i commented on the site Jonesy set up for the working draft, do we want an invocation as we had last time to start. and don't we need to review and approve Council decisions since our last state meeting — in this case the convention committee creation?finally, bill, can we merge the thread that eric started elsewhere with this thread. shouldn't be two discussions so closely related, as it will confuse folks visiting here...i'm hoping that all greens will be able to visit the Convention Committee thread and read, if not input. if they want to input, they need to see jonesy's agreement to be on the committee...

in reply to: GPCO Council Forum #340

how come threads start with the oldest post, instead of the latest post. oldest should be at the bottom, no?

in reply to: Convention Agenda #418

jonesy, good work incorporating suggestions. i think we have an excellent draft start…

in reply to: Convention Agenda #416

looking at the agenda from our last state meeting, i think 1-5 seem fine — someone else perhaps should do the invocation this time…since i will have to leave the meeting by noon to attend my other function, i'd like nomination of candidates for local and state races next as #6... that would be me and gary swing, at this point, right? since we don't have contested candidate races for that local and state race, it can be a simple vote (either agreement-seeking or modified robert's rules)then i'd like to have a selection of candidate for national races -- probably someone speaking for each of the four current candidates, and then an IRV vote on the presidential as item #7then, depending on how long those six or seven take, it might be time for a lunch break... when i would have to leave#8 could be review of the year's past council actions#9 could be a review of where we are on restructuring and the forum / bill reporting and i would try to have a short paperdo we have to re-elect state officers at this convention????and after that it's optional whatever folks want to do... but we will have completed our required business, no?within four days we will need to get certifications of candidates to the secretary of state and to my county clerk in san miguel county.

in reply to: Move back to Listserve? #387

i appreciate those thoughts, tanya. i think we have to vote on the listserve for the convention, but bill and i talked last night and i think he's doing some videos to help folks get the hang of the forum.i think a moderator will be crucial to keep things moving, on point and civil.personally, i'd rather check the forum on my own, when i wanted, and i don't want notifications. my email is far too full already. i would hope that notifications would be an option, not a requirement of this forum. those that don't check it regularly may want a notification, and i think that's fine. also, we have to set up the council space so i really think only the moderator or co-chairs ought to set up the categories, and let anyone start new threads, but not new structures. this could get real messy real fast. already we have netiquette discussions in two different places.
