MemberIf there is merchandise we can sell right now, I'd like to come down and take a look at it (or see it at the state meeting). We can get something going right now with our current line of merch, ahead of creating new stuff!! If you have any images of the stuff you have, could you email them to me?

August 9, 2013 at 10:33 pm in reply to: Proposal 002-13 to Provide funding for the 2013 GPCO Annual State Meeting #629Bill Bartlett
MemberI forgot to attached this to the top of my proposal, so for the sake of completeness I am putting it here. Steve, you were right that there are bylaws that regulate this issue, I just didn't see that I had not included them. [hr]This is proposal 002-13 to provide funding for the 2013 GPCO Annual State Meeting. Please read the proposal, and confine any comments to the proposal only. Designate your wishes by using "agree", “block”, or "stand aside". Any blocks will require a vote of the Council. A consensus of the council is necessary to pass this proposal, per Section 4.2.3 of the GPCO Bylaws pertaining to expenditures over $200. The floor is open for one week of Agreement Seeking for passage, or a block to bring the issue to vote. There are currently nine (9) active voting chapters in the Green Party of Colorado. A of 60% quorum requires at least one response from six (6) chapters. MemberAwesome, Michael, thank you! Art has also offered to co-sponsor this proposal. We have a tentative lineup for the committee's main members (chairs and secretary); the remaining “helper” positions are to be appointed by committee leaders as needed (per the wording in the proposal). This allows them some flexibility to bring on research or assistants as they need them. Since we have co-sponsors and it seems like the language is tight, I'm going to move this proposal to Agreement Seeking.

MemberThank you, Bob. I've begun looking for some volunteers to help fill up committee positions. Kevin has also expressed interest in being on the committee. If you are interested in being a member as well, that would bring this committee to three possible people (Bob, myself, and Kevin). Laura Clark had expressed some interest in being involved in fundraising activities. With this amount of interest, I feel confident in moving this proposal to Agreement Seeking.

MemberPersonally, I have no problem with church spaces as long as they understand our secular nature. I'm not sure of the demographics of Colorado Greens when it comes to religious beliefs. However, churches do have spaces for use that are not religious in nature, meant for nonprofit activities. As long as the space itself is secular I don't see a problem using church space if we have to.

MemberFYI: Our initial location was reserved, until the location notified us a few weeks ago that they were no longer allowing that room for public use. This was our second choice.

MemberI just heard from Chris that there are problems with this location. We'll know more tonight, but for now it looks like we might be looking a third location.

MemberThank you, Tanya! I only counted one Denver vote (Aaron Ney), otherwise we have the same totals: 11 total votes, but I have Jim Bullington listed as an Arapahoe Green, not Denver. I'll see if I can coax the other two into a vote.

MemberAs Facilitator, I've moved this Discussion to Voting. I cannot change the topic name, but the proposal number will be Proposal 01-2013. I vote Agree, and thank you everyone for moving this along. Chris, thank you for hosting and congratulations!

MemberHello Committee members, Adam, I know that you were brought in due to your proximity to the original location, but I would still support your chairmanship despite the change. I could help you chair this committee and do some secretarial work. Tanya and Art, if you could both provide some guidance as advisers to the committee, your experience with past meetings would be valuable. Since we're considering Douglas and El Paso, I'll see if Chris Allen would like to donate some of his time to be a researcher for the committee, or a chair. Michael, what sort of time do you have over the next two months? Advisory time? Secretarial time? MemberWe have fourth member for the committee. He's a San Miguel Green and new to volunteering with the party. His name is Adam Cline, and his account is being activated for the forum so he can participate. I'm also volunteering myself as an adviser to the group. I've taken the liberty of changing the functional name of this group to a "Working Group" rather than a committee. It will otherwise function as a committee, with the additional understanding that it will wind down after the annual meeting. Here is a link to the board for the working group. http://gpco.fullydefiant.com/forum/index.php?board=49.0

MemberThanks Michael and Tanya. We will gladly take any assistance you can offer. That makes three (Art, Tanya, and Michael). I think Michael and Tanya would prefer advisory positions, which may require less time. Here are two basic operating rules I would like to see for this committee: 1. A formal report emailed to the GPCO co-chairs of the proceedings of the committee, present at the first of each month through the annual meeting, with a final report due the 1st of July with recommendations for the following year. 2. A preliminary schedule with milestones presented to the GPCO co-chairs by April 1. I'll be posting a request for committee members through various channels over the next week to see if we can get some fresh blood from the Telluride area to take more active roles and perhaps relieve our more busy members from bearing the brunt of these duties. Thank you everyone for volunteering your time!
