First of all, I would like to express a huge sense of gratitude to Tanya for pulling the agenda together, when she is also looking to pull back from state party work to spend time on other things. With no one on the working group with the time to pull this together, without Tanya doing this we would be up the proverbial creek. Thank you Tanya.I doubt the individual chapter and officer reports will take much time, as we have not been highly active in 2013, as far as I know. In terms of quorum, if we have at least Michael from Adams/Jefferson, Laura from Denver, 4-5 from Greater Boulder, Bill and I from Poudre Valley, and Chris and others from Douglas County, I count 5 of the 6 chapters required for a quorum. If we get a commitment from Pikes Peak region (pretty close....pretty new and active chapter...c'mon El Paso County!) we will make our quorum. Woo hoo!The only other possible agenda items I see, which may be moot points, are:New Chapter Approvals? Bylaw Amendments? Review of Council Activity since last meeting?I support the agenda as is, or as modified, remembering we can change it at the meeting as needed. Also, the state council functions as the state party governing body between meetings. Once a state meeting is in session, it IS the governing body of the state party, so we can make changes as needed at the meeting. That is my take on our process.

I agree. We need to meet and get reorganized. Thanks to Chris Allen and Douglas county for agreeing to host in lieu of San Miguel Greens.

Agree. Not just because of the Holocaust denial (but wishing it were so), but also for calling for forced sterilization of welfare recipients, bragging about his "big balls" and other sexist behavior, dishonestly confusing his positions with Jill Stein's on his blog, admittedly doing all this to "get attention" and build his business, etc. Enough already.Eric FriedPoudre Valley Green PartyGPCO Secretary

Agree. We have money, let's spend it to help build the party in Adams/Jefferson.I especially agree with Steve Saint - locals should be able to raise, spend and file campaign reports for their own funds without requiring state action. I file the reports for PV Greens - it is not hard.

We discussed this at Thursday's meeting of Poudre Valley Green Party, and thought it most appropriate for the Colorado Green Party to take a position, as this is a statewide measure. I personally support this, half-step though it is, as a move towards full legalization, although I know some folks think this is bad law and does not go far enough. This may be as big a bite of the apple as we can get right now, with even our Governor Howdy Doody, who made his fortune producing and selling drugs (beer – a drug I like and use!) coming out against 64.We did agree to support the local ballot measure in our town overturning the ban on medical marijuana dispensaries in Fort Collins.

We have another potential delegate, from Colorado Springs, per Misha Luzov. Here is the info he gave me:Full name: Polina Anastasia ReynoldsGreen Affiliated since 4/1/12Would like to go to see the political process in action, meet fellow green party members, and support a deserving candidate (Jill Stein).Have there been any developments on this matter?Best,MishaPer the GPUS rules, we have until May 30 to submit names of additional delegates, since we applied for an extension when we applied for our original 4 delegates (and our request was approved). Each delegate can carry a proxy vote for one other delegate, so if we can send at least 4 people we would have our full 7 votes. If we can send at least 3, we can have 6 votes.Questions:1) how do people feel about adding Polina? Are there other questions you have for her before being able to make a decision?2) Are there other volunteers who might want to go to the national convention?

National rules allow proxy voting for no more than 1 person per delegate up to a state's delegate limit, so if we send 4 people we can exercise our full 7 votes. If we send 3, we have six votes, etc. We do need to credential even the proxies, and our deadline is fast approaching (April 30). I suppose we could credential delegates who do not actually plan to go, so we can exercise the proxy votes. But we do need 4 folks to go – any other volunteers? Gary will be unable to attend, Misha is a maybe, so that leaves only Bob Kinsey and Ryan Jones as definites.

Bill, FYI I will of course be attending. My strong preference is to go up Friday and stay overnight in a motel, rather than get up at 4 am Saturday to make it by 9 a.m. if you want to go Friday, we could carpool.

Now that I have access to this section of the forum (I know I can be dense, but I didn't think I was THAT dense!) I see that indeed much of this is underway, especially agenda collection. I am glad to see that. Much of the logistical stuff is still to be done, but maybe that is underway too. I apologize for any confusion I may have caused with sending this out to the council list and posting it in the wrong section of the forum.

I do have the 2011 list of registered Greens in Colorado, in an excel spreadsheet I would be glad to send to anyone who wants it. If we are moving towards agreeing to meet in Glenwood Springs on March 31, someone will need to volunteer to either act as host (line up a place, research lodging and food alternatives) or call greens in that area and find someone to take on that role. Without that, we need to meet somewhere proposed by a Green local, like Telluride.

It feels like we are moving very slowly, what with the 60-day suspension of council business (which officially ended last Summer), changeover to a forum that has not taken hold yet, Restructuring that has not advanced quickly, holiday hangover, etc.But here's a splash of cold water: if we are to legally nominate any candidates - for county commissioner, state reps, congress, President, etc - we MUST hold our nominating convention by April 14, 2012 at the latest. Other important deadlines are tied to the date of the convention: candidates must declare to their local party or state co-chairs 45 days before the convention; candidates must be registered green at least two months prior to nomination and cannot have been in another party six months prior to nomination. So, if we hold the convention on 4/14/12, people must already not be in another party, and independents or unregistered folks would need to register Green by 2/14/12 , and announce at the latest by 2/29/12 - a few weeks away! Those dates are even sooner if we hold the convention prior to the last possible legal date.I see that only seven people have voted so far in the forum on where to have the meeting. Glenwood Springs is winning, likely for its central location. The difficulty of course is we have no local there making it harder to rent or find a place, look into lodging etc. Art suggested San Miguel - I do not see anyone else jumping at that chance, but is the only solid offer so far. In the past we have alternated Front Range and Western Slope locales, and it is true our western slope folks have been schlepping to our part of the state for many years. We have also often held the convention/meeting where we have a new group, in order to help get them some publicity, so that would argue for Colorado Springs. I can see the value of several of these options, but my preference is we make a decision soon, put the info out on our website, put out a call for candidates, and hold the convention so we meet the legal deadlines to field candidates. We are already getting inquiries from interested folks and there is nothing we can tell them except...we don't know yet.I am posting this to the forum and to the discussion and council lists in order to accelerate our decision-making. Since we have not come up with a restructuring proposal, we need to use our old method - a proposal to the council list - to make a proposal and come to an agreement on where/when to hold the convention. Can we please talk this over quickly and efficiently, and come to a decision in the next 10 days at the outside? Thanks.Eric FriedGPCO Secretary
