MemberI'm pretty swamped this week but am interested in supporting the Green Party fundraiser. I've already sent a 'hold the date' note to Greater Boulder Greens and will publicize the details asap.If there is a specific job I could do in a couple hours, I'm available.

MemberThis member may have had an unusually long registration delay. 🙁 The problem isn't the system, its not having enough staff to make the system run effectively.
The strategic planning group will be looking at staffing requirements for state party functions/committees.What do you recommend on staffing needs for the Website Committee?

MemberThe feature/problem in detail: The Forum is open to Registered Greens only, and is disabled for the general public. There is a manual process >> Registration occurs through our GPCO website, users are verified as Green, their accounts are created, and they are notified. This member may have had an unusually long registration delay. 🙁 The problem isn't the system, its not having enough staff to make the system run effectively.
The member in question is my wife, Sally Hempy, a registered Green. I've diagnosed further and here is what I have found:1. SallyHempy is a registered user name in the forum.2. I cannot send her a personal message from the forum. a. When I try to send to user "SallyHempy", the response is, "User 'SallyHempy' can not receive messages." b. When I try to send to "sallyhempy@gmail.com", the response is, "Unable to find member 'sallyhempy@gmail.com'."3. Sally does not have a Welcome letter to the GPCO Forum in her email (and I suspect has never received a welcome letter). So she does not know her password.4. The response she receives to clicking "Forgot your password?" and supplying her user name, "SallyHempy", is the message, "A mail has been sent to your email address. Click the link in that email to set a new password."5. The email never shows up.Hopefully, these facts will point to the problem, which could include a human error in the manual process. Or Sally may have mistyped her email address when registering.I suggest checking her email address on the forum (I don't know how to do that). It needs to be 'sallyhempy@gmail.com'.

MemberSpeaking if which, I'd like to see you come back to the Website Committee!
Bill, I don't remember leaving the Website Committee. Minutes of the Website Committee Meeting held 10/19/13 list the committee members as Bill Bartlett, Michael Haughey, Harry Hempy, and Andrea Merida. If this is incorrect, please document the committee members. The Website committee had no activity between Dec. 17, 2013 and April 13, 2015. To make GPCO committees more effective I will propose to the strategic planning group that at least one chair (preferably two) of each committee not also be a state party co-chair. With respect, I think you have been wearing too many hats and party leadership needs to be broadened.

MemberI withdraw my block and AGREE with the proposal.I mistakenly thought the proposal referred to elections at the annual meeting. Mea culpa! Getting a date and location for the annual meeting is key.

MemberI'm taking a BLOCK position for a number of reasons.1. This proposal is out of order. The text of the proposal states, "Passage of this proposal would mean Laura Clark would be our new Co-chair, and Chris Allen our new State Treasurer." GPCO Bylaws sections 4.3 and 5.7 require party officers to be selected at an annual meeting; not a forum discussion on which registered Greens cannot participate. 2. The proposal ignores GPCO Procedures and Guidelines section 3.1.3: "Where one person has held an office in the GPCO for longer than 2 years, this office should be reviewed at an annual meeting to see if there are any other qualified people to rotate into that office." 3. GPCO Bylaws require all officers to be elected in odd-numbered years. This proposal would commit Council members to vote for a slate proposed by the current state officers before knowing who the nominees will be.4. A proposal from the state party officers to re-elect themselves is dubious on its face.

MemberBill, My responses to your post of April 9:"We do not want to use the Mercury Cafe." Who is we? I personally like the Mercury Café, but am open to meeting anywhere."The state leaders are aiming for the annual meeting later in the year." On Feb 9 in private council discussion on planning for 2015-2016 you wrote, "Since this is an off-year, we don't have to hold our meeting in March; April or May would be better (May has been suggested as the best option)." What is the hold up?"The proper approach is to get a committee together that presents a few dates, and perhaps venue options, to the council." When will you have the committee together? Either Fred Smith or Harry Hempy would serve on the committee from Greater Boulder."You may want to reach out to us to discuss some of this stuff before doing too much planning on your own." "Once we have discussed it, a proposal can be drafted." Agreed. I thought drafting a proposal for discussion the GPCO Forum was the preferred way to 'reach out'. How SHOULD people reach out to GPCO?
April 9, 2015 at 9:13 pm in reply to: Proposal 002-15: Supporting the 2015 Minimum Wage Movement #878Harry Hempy
MemberIt looks like there is consensus on supporting HB15-1300. (Right?)HB15-1300 passed the house and has been assigned to the State, Veteran, and Military Affairs committee in the senate. The date for public testimony has not been set yet.I would write an article for the website for HB15-1300 if council would like. I am working (personally) with the Colorado Center on Law and Policy, the Colorado Fiscal Institute, and labor unions to hold a press conference/rally immediately preceding the senate hearing. The Green Party of Colorado could/should sign up as a co-sponsor of the rally. I suggest GPCO write to the bill's sponsors, Moreno, Melton and Merrifield, indicating GPCO's enthusiasm for local minimum wages and offering testimony in favor of the bill. Assuming the website article is well-written and reflects well on the Green Party, it can also be sent as a press release/advisory a couple days before the rally.(I don't know if co-sponsoring a rally requires another proposal in this forum or if our consensus to support HB15-1300 is adequate. ???)

MemberMichelle, The Greater Boulder Green Party passed the resolution for local control of the minimum wage on Dec. 11, 2014. It was in the papers. See http://blogs.denverpost.com/thespot/2014/12/16/green-party-backs-bill-allow-locals-set-minimum-wages/115789/ and http://www.pinerivertimes.com/article/20141225/NEWS01/141229873/0/NEWS01/Bill-may-lead-to-higher-wages#sthash.0WUws6tX.dpuf in which I am quoted as saying: “There are a lot of people in poverty, working people in poverty,” said Harry Hempy, a Boulder County resident and Green Party gubernatorial candidate who has been working on the legislation. “Obviously, living in poverty isn’t good for people. It costs taxpayer money to supplement their income.” I think the intent of this proposal is for the state Green Party to endorse the same position - in favor of local control of the minimum wage in Colorado.
