MemberHello,I'm glad that you are able to get a new website committee going. Sorry I can't be there for the meeting as it is on a weekend that doesn't work for me. If you need historical knowledge of the evolution of the website and related procedures, please just ask and I can email back answers.Good luck!Tanya

MemberHave fun, everyone. I have decided I can not attend tomorrow. Enjoy the day and make progress. As outgoing secretary, Eric can help you amend the agenda in the morning to make sure all important items and times are included.TanyaP.S. I was playing around at the DOM studio and put out this video this week but did not get it posted on youtube until last night: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CTggppN8Gws

MemberHere is a message about the agenda from Bob Kinsey of the Pikes Peak Greens. He posted it on the old listserve GPCO discussion rather than here. I think his ideas can be incorporated into our agenda (elections discussion during candidate vetting- perhaps that time should be increased by 15 minutes, and national green party meeting report- during his chapter report or during national delegate reports).TanyaI would like some discussion at the State Meeting about strategy implementation that would track all elections in a local chapter's area and, in cases where candidates cannot be found that we attempt to identify those candidates we can endorse or at least describe as the best lesser of two, three, or four evils. Perhaps we could work to create trade offs where other parties agree not to run in races where we have a candidate and we agree to a similar restraint. Such strategy would not mean ignoring the need for Amending the Constitution vs. Citizens United or the need for IRV or similar alternatives. Given the political landscape here in Colorado Springs we need to make part of our strategy to achieve Green Party platform goals, such as critical massive action re: Global Climate Change, the identification of those candidates who are most likely to at least favor some of them. For example there are so many people here who are embarrassed by Doug Lamborn but any chance of dumping him will require a cooperative effort among Independents, Democrats, Libertarians and Greens rather than a melee of candidates who compete over those votes. Last time we had a candidate and he ran three way vs. an Independent. This time there is a Democrat who acknowledges Global Warming as a serious problem. Unfortunately he is ex-military General . I realize that this sounds like "lesser of two evils" but I don't mean it to be that. Where there are just DvR races what I am suggesting is that unless either of these parties is willing to also trade off for Green Candidates in other races we don't do anything other than reveal the evils of both the choices or run our own where possible. The difficulty of running serious challenges and even locating candidates willing to run a respectable race in all election venues seems to leave us needing to find other ways of making the Green Party registration meaningful.I could report a bit on the National Meeting in Iowa City.Attached is a handout I used with some modification at the Sustainability Fair on the Auraria Campus yesterday. Handed out about 25 and had some good conversations -- got names of five students who would be interested in a Campus "Young Green" Group.Bob Kinsey303-949-4073

MemberMichael and all,Item 12 on the agenda is the place for resolutions at the moment. So we do have a spot for it. If you think the allotted time (amount and when occurs) should be changed, just suggest it in this vote process and we can amend it. As far as Bill's suggestion to add Michelle Lamay of Prohibit Penalties for the Possession of Cannabis to the agenda, where would you suggest to add it? In your introduction time (part of your 10 mintues); within the introductions of chapters and unaffiliated Greens (3-5 min in that 55 min period), or in another spot like Future Business at the end or a new item like Ballot Initiative support and creation either just before lunch or just after Item 11 about 2014 candidates? If we add it instead of rolling it into an existing proposed agenda item, then we need to take away time from another item or add more time to the agenda and extend the day a bit. Also, Bill wrote in another message that he would like to see a time for networking and socializing- is that 1.5 hour lunch enough, or are you suggesting a happy hour or early dinner after the meeting? If so, does Chris Allen have a recommendation of a location? Thanks, Tanya

MemberDoes the meeting space have free wifi or at least wifi included in that rental price? What hours can we have the room for that cost? How many people can fit in the room? Are we allowed to have food in the room? Is there an attached kitchen or sink area?I am interested in those details before stating agreement or disagreement. We have mostly been able to get donated space for past annual meetings, so to spend the amount that is requested, it would be nice to know whether the space is really adequate.Thank you, Tanya

MemberIt appears that the state meeting proposal has passed with unanimous agreement from a quorum of reps from local chapters. The agreement seeking period ended yesterday. Now, it would be great if committee members and the co-chair could post the date and location on the state website and send individually to chapter chairs. Within a couple weeks, it would be good also to make personal phone calls to chapter chairs around the state.Thank you, Tanya

MemberThanks for checking my math, Bill. I thought Jim B. was Denver. So you are right- he is Arapahoe and we have that 7th chapter voting as well.Tanya

MemberHello, GPCO Council,The one-week agreement seeking period, which originally began on July 9 when I posted the proposal to the council discussion area, was re-started on July 11 when Bill posted this proposal to the council proposal voting forum. The agreement seeking will now end on Wed., July 17. So far, it looks like we will not have to go to a vote because all votes have been agree. We have had votes from 6 of 8 active chapters (according to my count: Adams-Jefferson-2, Boulder-2, Denver-2, Douglas-1, Pikes Peak-2, Poudre Valley-2), so we have met our quorum requirements. We have not had any votes from the Southwest Greens or the San Miguel Greens. It would be great to get votes from those areas, though they are not procedurally necessary for the proposal to pass. Thanks, Tanya

MemberThanks for getting the poll going, Bill. Yes, I will provide guidance about what is needed for the meeting. After we determine the date and location (someone might want to look back at our bylaws to ensure we are doing it within bylaw process), the hosts/committee needs to determine and secure the venue (library, free meeting space, church, supportive nonprofit…). Then, determine the time to start and end and whether to add a second day of activities. When planning the venue, it would be great to have free wifi for all meeting attendees or at least wifi for the secretary at the meeting. We haven't really needed av equipment to show stuff in the past but it is a consideration. The committee/hosts would be kind to arrange a continental breakfast or at least fruit and hot drinks for the morning (local business donations, potluck from local members...) and get information ready to provide for lunch options during the meeting and lodging/camping/free couch surfing after and before the meeting. Water availability from a fountain or something is also preferable during meeting. We almost always for the past 10 years have had 30-40 people at each annual meeting. Chairs and restroom capacity and tables should be planned for that number. We usually promote through state website, local chapters, some press releases (Colorado statesman...) and sharing with activist groups.Tanya

MemberThanks to Kevin for joining this group. We need to pick the state meeting date(s). Here were my earlier suggestions (which are still available for me):July 6, July 13, July 20Aug. 10, 17, 24, 31I will post this to the other forum list and email it to you too (though I don't have Adam's email address).I really don't have much time for the Greens these days but I hope to contribute a bit to this since I already committed. Can Adam Cline be our chair? If not, anyone else? Can we agree to choose two date options by May 25? Then, the chair can send those out to the council and state party members and I could post something to the GPCO website if you want, asking people to vote on which date. We can try to collect votes and tally by June 6?Are we set with the location being in San Miguel County? Any discussion about more specifics on that yet? Thanks, Tanya
