MemberAnd I failed to mention that I also agree with Bob that Andrea has done a tremendous amount of work/effort for the Green Party. Due to her efforts, Denver is becoming a much stronger chapter. I have been primarily absent, so I give credit where credit is due.

MemberStand Aside. I agree completely with Bob Kinsey's comments. I have been a member of the Green Party for roughly six years. I have worked with Bill and Andrea. I observed Bill help with conflict within the Denver Greens several years ago and was able to help us overcome some issues. I have talked to several people lately and expressed my concerns and thoughts. I talked to Bill about issues regarding sexism. I haven't been a girl for 50 years and I do not want to be called girl. I have worked to eliminate that reference from the call center I help manage. I have experienced sexism and will speak up and out about that. Yes, I'm a feminist and proud of it. I can't speak to racism because I am white and have not experienced it. I do, however, know that a black man with whom I work, and for whom I have a very high regard, having been asked by Aurora police if he would agree to be handcuffed while they spoke to him. He's tall, 6'4″, and he agreed. I seriously doubt any white man is going to experience that. As Bob indicated, I wish we had dealt with the various issues sooner, but this is where we are today. I appreciate the fact Bill has stepped aside so hopefully we can continue up to elections unhindered.

MemberKevin, the agenda has pretty much been wrapped up. We will be having discussion in the afternoon about strategy, etc. Our biggest impediment at this point for merchandise is funding. We need to engage people to staff a fundraising committee. I think ideas about merchandise are certainly welcome, but we may want to have committee work first. Are you interested and/or able to serve on a committee to work on either of these? And btw, I have one of those hats. They're awesome.

MemberSo would the Democrats support non-Dems in their local/state offices? We know already they don't support non-Dems for candidates, right? We should conduct ourselves as a political party, independent of other political parties. If someone truly cares about who we are and what we do, what our vision is, there shouldn't be an issue with being a Green if they are going to serve in a role responsible for helping grow the Green Party of Colorado.

MemberSteve Saint – want to let you know we're trying to include some time on the agenda at the annual meeting to introduce (reintroduce) Art Goodtimes and ask him to talk about the importance of running candidates in local races. Hope to see you at the meeting!!

MemberI believe party leaders should be supporting Green Party candidates, not Democratic candidates. We have scarce resources in terms of money and people's time and those should be spent wisely, promoting our values, our party, and our candidates.

MemberI believe it's appropriate to set a minimum length of time for someone to be affiliated with the Green Party prior to running for state party office. They are going to be in a leadership role and it's important that person clearly understands and buys into what and who we are. That doesn't happen over night, imho. Our approach to this should speak to the fact we have standards and expectations regarding qualifications. Whether the time requirement is 6 months or 3 months or some other length of time, I'm open to discussion, but it needs to be at least as long as the time from call for nominations to the meeting.

MemberIn response to Bob… Yes, we took in $50. Michelle brought her massage chair on Sunday and helped bring in at least half of that if not more. We got a number of people who signed up. Andrea took the names and I believe was adding them to the GPCO mailing list. And possibly a volunteer or two. We had some very good dialogue with a number of folks (and some challenging ones with a Libertarian or 2). One young woman, not registered to vote, stopped by from the We Are Change booth, to borrow a marker. We talked a bit and I gave her some information. I had information displayed (using your message from I think 2 years ago) voting today by registering to vote. That young woman came back later and told me she stopped at the Democratic Party booth and registered to vote – as a Green. (Damn, I love that story.) I've attached the page I had displayed so you can see it.

MemberThank you, Bill!! I appreciate the feedback and support. And just so everyone knows, we still have some material for handout. I gave a couple of members extra copies at the March Against Monsanto rally so they would have them for future distribution. And just to clarify, the insurance amount was for the Fair itself, an added expense that was requested subsequent to our application. I went ahead and paid for it at the time.(PS: And I love the pic with me in the background getting an awesome chair massage from Michelle!)

MemberTo committee members, please allow time for public notification. 4.1 State meetings will be held yearly or more frequently at a location agreed upon by the members at the previous meeting, or by a special call of the Council at its discretion. Nominating conventions and meetings to elect state officers must be announced by the Secretary in a newspaper of statewide circulation 15 days before the meeting. State meetings are those where party business is conducted. The state nominating convention is held in even number years — every two years for the purpose of nominating candidates for public office in Colorado; and every four years for conducting the presidential preference process and selecting delegates to the Green Party of the United States national convention.
