I think this proposal should be withdrawn until we have heard all the facts and all sides and if appropriate have attempted other resolutions to the issues.  This fast attempt to get the vote thru is exactly what Bill is accused of (one of the items).  Far too often this forum has been used to just post a proposal without any discussion of how it should be worded, and not just by Bill.  Michael HaugheyJC Greens

I will try to be on the call.  I'll probably call from a coffee shop, so apologize in advance for any background noise. Thanks for organizing the call before taking any drastic action.Michael HaugheyJC Greens

Agree, strongly. We desperately need universal single payer user choice.  This is a courageous first step in Colorado and deserves our support.Michael HaugheyJefferson County Greens

in reply to: Updates: state meeting date, website, etc. #1160

April 9 was discussed.  April 3 is in the previous post and is a Sunday.  Is that what was intended?

I agree with most of the proposal and disagree with parts of the proposal.  There is no mention of preserving small businesses (on the scale of a local family or individual business, not the current federal interpretation of what is “small”).  Therefore I am opposed to this wording, and if that means a block, then I block.I'd prefer that we have a discussion of the wording of such proposals rather than a take-it-or-leave-it approach.Michael HaugheyAJ Greens

I would delete the THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED sentence.Michael HaugheyAJ Greens

in reply to: Colorado Green Party Platform #1131

I would modify to give a vote to every Colorado Green (Whether input provided or not).  Not everyone is comfortable or has experience with platform development, but everyone is entitled to a vote.Michael HaugheyAJ Greens

My vote was not a stand aside.  I would have said that if that is what I intended.  I was advising that the proposal needs revision. The "best efforts" reasoning goes beyond the "good faith efforts" and is un-definable.  For volunteers, best efforts are unreasonable.  We should be grateful for any efforts.  Encourage, not require and mandate.Michael HaugheyAJ Greens

DisagreeThe "good faith effort" and "demonstrate" items are vague and could require leadership time commitments that are excessive.  Who determines what qualifies, and per what criteria?Michael HaugheyAJ Greens

in reply to: Proposal 007-15: Length of Co-Chair Term #1031

My concern would apply to all officers.I would vote no as stands.Michael HaugheyAJ Greens

Do not agree as worded.  Too much micro-managing.  All the good faith efforts require time that some chapter volunteers/officers do not have.  Also, the statement to support “only…” could be interpreted to apply to issues as well.  It also does not address supporting other party candidates when there is no Green Party candidate for a particular office.I think it needs work before voting.  As worded I would vote no.Michael HaugheyAJ Greens

in reply to: Bernie Sanders and the GPCO #1040

I am in favor of “supporting” Bernie.  I would encourage a strategy of supporting Jill up to just before the election, and then, assuming Bernie is the Dems selection, ask her supporters to consider voting for Bernie.  I do not see the need to switch parties to vote in the primary.  Anyone wanting to help Bernie can be just as effective with a donation to his campaign (and one to Jill's campaign).  Bernie is a bit of a breath of fresh air in spite of differences on some key issues.  I do not believe in trying to fix the Dem party.  We need a multi-party system and IRV.  We will be much further from that goal if Hillary or one of the current Republican clowns gets into office.FYI - most of the AJ Greens who attend our monthly meetings disagree with me, so this is not an AJ Greens position, just mime.I am OK with a private initial discussion and then presenting some well-thought out ideas to the open forum.  Is anyone reading the general forum or are most of the posts from the council?Michael HaugheyAJ Greens
