in reply to: The Future of the Website Committee #583

I just took a look at the website.  It does look much better.  There are items that need to be updated and/or are incorrect.  How do we make those changes?  For example, under Events, the AJ Greens meeting info is years out of date.  We meet at 6:00 PM on the 2nd Monday, and I believe Tanya had been posting the meeting place and details under Local Chapters and the Facebook page local link.  I just looked and the May meeting was not posted.  I believe some of the contact names under Contact Us are also out of date.Michael haugheyAJ Greens Chair

in reply to: Colorado support for Right of Return of Palestinians #571

I don't know a lot about this specific proposal, however I agree that the Palestinians should not have been removed from their ancestral land.  If the Greens support this, then perhaps a similar statement can be made regarding the occupation of Tibet.  It seems right that a person has inherent right to the land of birth, and the people of an area have an inherent right of self-governance.Michael Haughey

I will withhold my vote pending a request for more information.  What specifically precipitated this action?I am concerned about the process.  From the e-mail list "discussions" it seems this action was precipitated primarily by a difference of opinion on one subject - the Holocost, and perhaps secondarily by a sterilization opinion.  That information seems to have been gleened by seeking out his posts on an abscure (to me anyway) web site (Sodahead) that seems only for people who want to trade obscure views.  That sets a bad precedent - seeking essentially dirt (unpopular opinions or statements) on someone because either his opinion is dis-approved or because the person is not liked.  What topic, opinion, or person is next?  How pure must this party be?Were/if this action was/is the direct result of comments made in his role as national representative, or comments made in the context of being a representative of the Colorado Green Party, that might be a better case.  If the action is the result of the alleged disruptive behavior at the Denver Green Party meetings, then that is better addressed by the Denver Greens.  However the recent vote by the Denver Greens seems to have been made more to address an opinion(s) than behavior. An alternative route is to hold an election for the position of National Representative and have all candidates state their qualifications, positions, etc. Thanks,Michael HaugheyAdams-Jeffco Greens

    AgreeMichael HaugheyA-J Greens

Since we do not have a treasurer, it is not legal for our chapter to raise funds.  Thus the only legal way to “advertise” is to donate to the State and request an allocation of those funds back to our chapter.  Note that “in-kind” donations either may be or are also illegal.Michael HaugheyA-J Chairperson

AgreeMichael HaugheyAJ GreensAJ Greens is presently a small group.  This is part of an effort to increase our membership so that we can eventually find volunteers for varioius positions such as treasurer, raise funds, and so on.

Yes,We would like to get as many out before the election as we can, and time is very, very short.  I don't have posting access to the propossal or agreement seeking parts of the forum, so assuming that only Bill can do that at this time. Thanks,Michael

I agree the new price is much more palatable.Once (if) we get approval to proceed, I can update the flyers (with the new links etc) andn then post the updated flyer templates along with a checklist of what to change for each Chapter who is interested in uising them andn a list of t he "slogans we came up with so far.  (For example, based on the "old" Green Party 10 key values, here is another of our favorites:  Value 2:  "Like this planet?  Vote Green Party"  Thanks,Michael HaugheyAJ Greens Chairperson

Good point on the chapter donations.  One of our regular attendees has donated $100 and would like that to go to this project. The color and size were agreed upon at the chapter meeting, so I would not want to change that without discussion at a future meeting.  The full size could be folded, but same print size, and that would also require re-formatting so that it reads correctly on the cover and when opened.  For marketing appeal, I think color is needed.Michael HaugheyAJ Greens Chairperson

Hi Ryan,Thanks for the response.  Who knew there were two Green Party's!  I took a qiuick look and the 10 key values appear very similar, except for being in a different order and a few (insignificant?) differences in wording.  Changing the link is easy.  Re-doing the 10KVs would take time that I don't have at the moment.  Maybe someone can volunteer to help?  It took 4 months to get this far and now we are one month away from the election.  OR - we can correct the links and let the 10KVs be imperfect for this first printing.  I think we need the full two-side full page to convey the necessary info and color to look at least somewhat professional.  Did you see the new pricing we got from Sir Speedy?  I would also like to know how this compares to the available budget and certainly don't want to spend too much on one initiative.  I tried to address how other chapters could use the same flyer (in my replies to Bill) - I can send the templates or post them.  Each chapter would need to edit their contact web address and change the title to their chapter name.  We also have a long list of "slogan" ideas that we can share and each group can pick their favorite or come up with new ones.  Our basic intent, in addition to attracting more attendees to our monthly meetings, is to create sound bite messages and marketing slogans that (AJ Greens, and other Greens) can use to more effectively promote our value as a political party.  We have found that almost (but not quite) the entire general public knows nothing about the Green Party. Thanks,  🙂Michael HaugheyAJ Greens Chairperson
