MemberI don't believe the Democrats will nominate Bernie. They perceive Clinton as more electable in the general. Greens who want to switch parties around and play the game may do so, but I question the effectiveness of playing the game. I would go so far as to say that the GP running a candidate for president is playing the game. Unless the system is changed, the outcome will be the same. We need candidates to run for local offices that they might actually have a chance if winning. My two cents…

MemberI think the statement is fine. I think Bob Kinsey's first sentence or so is even stronger. I fully support the GP commitment to nonviolence and I'm not sure what our official stance is on “self-defense.” Almost everybody believes in some notion of self-defense – in fact, most countries that engage in war believe they are only acting in self-defense – but I think the GP calls for NONVIOLENT self-defense. Could go on quite a bit about how most wars (including the Revolutionary and Civil) could have been avoided, but not appropriate for this forum! ; )Onward! We're participating in a second Gaza vigil in Colorado Springs Monday evening.

MemberI have answered the poll in favor of combining nominations and party business. My impression is that locals have a hard time getting reps to a single yearly meeting, let alone two. Could a single meeting with two distinct tasks be held over a long weekend – say, Friday night to Sunday afternoon? Do we have any three-day weekends coming up in the required timeframe?Peace,Steve

MemberI have a Clarifying Question: Why were the bylaws written they way they were? What was the spirit and purpose of the 45-day window? Thanks!Peace,StevePikes Peak Greens

MemberI agree – but I'd like to express my feeling that this seems like a detail best left to the discretion of the WG. I trust them to spend only what is prudent! Perhaps the bylaws have some kind of expenditure threshold… thanks for all your work!Peace,Steve SaintPikes Peak Greens

November 25, 2012 at 7:38 pm in reply to: Proposal 006-12 to Remove Victor Forsythe as a National Rep. to the GPUS #559Steve Saint
MemberI do not know Victor nor have I heard or read any of his statements. Has he been formally asked to resign or withdraw himself as our representative? If so, has he refused? I'd like to see his response. If not, it seems the collegial thing to do rather than vote him off the island.
November 17, 2012 at 4:46 pm in reply to: Proposal 005a-12 to Designate Funds for Advertising in Adams/Jefferson. #543Steve Saint
MemberSeems like I repsonded to this already, but maybe this is a new proposal. I agree with the stated concern that the local needs to move ahead with plans to open a bank account and do a little fundraising. Keep up the good work! 🙂

MemberAgree – I have no problem with this. I do, however, share a concern that the local is not set up to take donations, dues, whatever and has no bank. I would urge them to consider some fundraising, maybe dues and work towards local self-reliance. Peace,Steve
